APC chairman killed in Rivers

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ward 7-Onne, Eleme Local government area of Rivers State, Jonah Chu has been shot dead.

Mr. Chu we gathered was assassinated in his home after attending a function on Sunday.

A source within the community said, “The armed men came to his house, took nothing, touched nothing, held everyone hostage, and shot him dead.”

The Deputy Publicity Secretary of the APC in Eleme, Godpower Igwe in a brief reaction said the incident had been reported to the Police.

A relative of the slain APC chieftain, Mr. Sunday Mba who also confirmed the incidence expressed deep sadness, stressing the deceased was a peaceful perfect gentleman.

He called on the government to expedite action and bring the culprits to book.

Meanwhile, some Rivers people are already alluding the killings to what happened in 2015 where many APC members were killed prior to the elction.

It would be recalled that just last month, a chieftain of the APC in Ikwerre Local government area of Rivers state, Samuel Wanjoku who is also the brother to the member representing the area in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Azubuike Wanjoku was also killed by gunmen around Ipo community in Ikwerre.

At the time of filling this report, he Rivers State Police Command was yet to react to the incidence.
