Appeal court sacks Jerry Gana, declare Duke as SDP presidential candidate

By: Admin

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, Thursday, declared Donald Duke, as the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Duke is a former governor of Cross Rivers State.

In a unanimous decision by a three-man panel led by Justice Abdul Aboki, the court set aside the December 14, 2018 judgment of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) which had declared Jerry Gana as the candidate of the party.

The court also awarded N500,000 cost against Gana in favour of Duke.

Recall that Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, recently published the names of presidential candidates of parties leaving SDP out.
