Gunmen kill mother, children in Rivers

By: Admin

Gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed a woman and her two children in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Aluu plays host to the University of Port Harcourt.

The victims we gathered were killed when the gunmen stormed their home in search of the woman’s husband but when they couldn’t find him, they shot the trio as a show of strength.

The unidentified father is said to still be on the run while the bodies have been deposited to the hospital.

Community sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity described the situation as horrible adding that the killings which started late last year have increased significantly since January.

The source said that most of the cultists attacking Aluu community are from Isiokpo and Ipo areas of the local government, adding that security agents seem to be overwhelmed by the development as little has been done to checkmate their activities.

Confirming the incidence,  Spokesman of Rivers State Police command, Nnamdi Omoni, said that the command is aware of the development and is doing all it can to arrest the perpetrators and also bring the killings to an end.

He also urged the public to furnish the command with reasonable information that will lead to the end of the killing in Aluu.
