JUST IN: Collation and announcement of Rivers election results to hold in April

After over one of conclusion of its fact finding mission in Rivers State, The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has finally released the much awaited timeline for the completion of the electoral process in the state.

INEC Commissioner in charge of Voter Education and Information, Festus Okoye at a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday said collation and announcement of results in the Rivers Governorship election will take place between 2nd and 5th of April, 2019 at a venue to be decided by stakeholders.

Okoye also disclosed that supplementary elections will take place on the 13th of April in Local government areas where elections could not hold.

The Commission said it will hold security meeting in Rivers state on 29 March and also meet with Critical Stakeholders on 30th of March.

 Okoye further said Certificates of Return will be issued to successful candidates on 19TH of April.

The much awaited timeline had generated lots of ripples in Rivers State with some stakeholders calling for outright cancellation over fears that the results might have been tampered with.
