Suspension of Chijioke Ihunwo is still effective – NYCN

By: Admin

The faction of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN,  loyal to Amb Sukubo Sara-Igbe has called on the public to disregard any statement on the dissolution of acting coordinators of the 23 local government areas in Rivers State.

Sara-Igbe at the moment is attending the 2nd Pan-African Youths Forum in Ethiopia as the leader of Nigeria’s delegation.

Public Relations Officer of NYCN, Rivers State Chapter Adokiye Mujiton during a press briefing in Port Harcourt said the Chairman of NYCN in the state Sukubo Sara-Igbe did not authorize the dissolution of the local government coordinators.

He  stated that Sukubo Sara-Igbe is the duly elected Chairman of NYCN in the state since 2015 for a four-year tenure.

Mujiton said: “The State Executive Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria Rivers State Chapter, led by Amb Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo having been elected on the 30th day of June 2015 for a tenure of four years remains the duly recognized Executive that has the legal right and authority to represent the act on behalf of the youth council (see judgment order of his Lordship Hon Justice C.D Green delivered on June 4th, 2018)

“That the public should discountenance any statement made by Chijioke Ihunwo that the acting co-ordinators of the 23 local government areas of NYCN in the state were dissolved by him with the intention to conduct elections of any kind. This is mischievous and not from the National Youth Council of Nigeria Rivers State Chapter”.

“That the said Chijioke Ihunwo has been on suspension following his action which caused disaffection among members of the youth council and staff of the Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development. Therefore the said Chijioke Ihunwo is not the chairman and has not been a chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria Rivers State Chapter” he said.

The NYCN state imagemaker also said that the Ministry of Youth Development does not have the right to seal their state secretariat in Port Harcourt.

He also called on the 23 local government chairmen and members of the House of Assembly not to have any dealings with any other person outside the authentic chairman of NYCN in the person of Amb Sukubo Sara-Igbe.

The PRO further said that the election of the Kalabari youth council which took place on 6th March 2019 was credible, peaceful, free, fair and credible.

Mujiton also appealed to youths in the state to remain peaceful and law-abiding.

He noted that a transition committee would soon be set up in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of NYCN to commence the process for new leadership of the youth body in Rivers State.
