100 level UNIPORT engineering student commits suicide

By: Admin

Reports say a 100 level student of the University of Port Harcourt has committed suicide.

The student identified as Hilkmat Gbadamosi of  the Department of Chemical Engineering, allegedly took her own life due to a terminal illness she has been suffering from birth.

Neighbours said she consumed two bottles of a poisonous substance leading to her death.

According to a short video that is now trending online, she was seen complaining that the pain has refused to go away, although she clearly did not specify the cause of the pain.

However, other sources alleged that she committed suicide because her boyfriend left her.

Her classmates said they became worried when they didn’t see her in school on Monday and so did not take part in the test that they wrote. They added that calls to her phone did not through.

Others said she might have died since Saturday as they did not see her on Sunday and on Monday afternoon.

The neighbours said that the caretaker of her lodge after knocking on her door for hours without an answer on Monday evening, climbed a ladder and peeped through her window only to discover her decomposing body.

They subsequently reported the incident to the police who broke into the room and evacuated the body.

William Wordi, the University’s public relations officer is yet to comment on the matter but

It was learnt that her body has been deposited at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.
