Police confirm killing of officers, raid on brothels, bars in Port Harcourt

Few hours after the killing of two mobile police officers at Ojoto/ Timber street in Diobu axis of Port Harcourt yesterday, officers of the Rivers State Command of the Nigerian Police  have raided brothels in the area, arresting sex workers and their male clients.

This is even as the command has confirmed the killing of its officers and the raid on the brothels.

The slain police officers were escorting a van carrying an unspecified amount of money before they were attacked and killed by the yet to be identified gunmen.

Their rifles were also carted away by the assailants.

The attacked van belonged to a liquor company.

Among the raided brothels in Diobu are Kool Breeze and others along Azikiwe Street.

It was gathered that female sex workers and their male customers were arrested. The female sex workers who were half nude were bundled into the police Patrol vans and driven off.

 Spokesperson  of the  command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the twin incidents said  the mass arrest around the area is part of crime control and preventive measures.

He maintained that the command will leave no stone unturned in its bid to arrest the killers of its officers.
