By: Admin

The House of Representatives on Wednesday witness a  rowdy session as the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila began to announce the list of principal officers in the House.

The session immediately degenerated into a more chaotic session as the name of Ndudi Elumelu was announced as the minority leader of the House.

Sensing the danger, the House  abruptly adlourned plenary.

A splinter group from the Minority party rushed to snatch the mace, telling the speaker not to halt the announcement of the list.

The group insisted that the party’s list  which has Kinsley Chinda as minority leader should be announced instead of the nomination list, which has the name of Ndudi Elumelu as minority leader and Toby Okechukwu as his deputy.

While addressing the press on the issue both parties said they have complied with Order 7 Rule 8 of the Standing Rules of the House.

The group rooting for Kingsley Chinda  said its list has Kingsley Chinda as Minority Leader, Chukwuma Onyeama as Deputy Minority Leader, Yakubu Barde as Minority Whip and Muraino Ajibola as Deputy Minority Whip.

On the other hand, the Elumelu group said they have chosen Ndudi Elumelu as Minority Leader, Toby Okechukwu as Deputy, Gideon Gwani as Minority Whip and Adesegun Adekoya as Deputy Minority Whip.

PHSpectator recalls that before now the name of Kinsley Chinda representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in Rivers State had made waves in the media as the new minority leader.
