We are ontop of security challenges in Choba – Eke

Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Prince Solomon Eke has said that the council is taking steps to tackle the security challenges in Choba community in the area.

This coming after unknown gunmen killed the Community Development Chairman, CDC, of the community, Mr Lawrence Igwe and the Chief Priest of the community, Chief Orji at the weekend.

The youth had also accused chiefs and elites in the community of escalating the crises.

Eke who spoke during a meeting with stakeholders at the council headquarters said that the council is working in synergy with the police and other security agencies in unravelling the criminality in the council area.

He noted that the situation at Choba calls for concern and described it as unfortunate after remarkable progress was made in combating cultism and criminality in the community and wondered why it resurfaced.

The council boss said that as part of efforts to curb criminality, measures are already in place to nib in the bud criminal challenges.

He noted that the Obio/Akpor Rapid Response Team when operational would drastically reduce cultism and criminality in the council area.
