There is tension amongst residents of Rumuekpe community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State following gunmen attack on Monday evening which led to the deaths of two persons.
Community sources attributes the killings to disagreement among rival cult groups in the area.
A community source who pleaded anonymity said that the killings on Monday sent ripples of shock through the community, adding that the killers came from neighbouring communities to carry out the attack.
The Police in Rivers State has not reacted to the killing, though another source told our correspondent that the community chiefs met on Tuesday morning in a bid to douse the growing tension.
He said: “It is a cult-related killing. The police in Emohua was called to evacuate the lifeless bodies and deposit them to the mortuary.
“The chiefs and youth leaders have met in a bid to douse tension. People are going about their normal business” he added.
