Suspected Serial killer Gracious David West, who is standing trial for the murder and attempted murder of several ladies in hotels in Port Harcourt, before Justice Adolphus Enebeli of Rivers State High Court has demanded for sixty thousand (60,000) naira he said belongs to him but in police possession.
Vincent Chuku Counsel to the 1st Defendant Gracious David West, filed an application before the court requesting that the suspect is in need of his money in police custody.
The State Prosecuting Counsel, Chidi Ekeh, told the court that the sixty thousand naira in question is not included in the list of items as exhibits submitted by the police to the State Prosecution.
He added that if there is such money as exhibits with the police that they will surely get it.
Justice Adolphus Enebeli, after listening to Counsels said that by law, the suspect still has right to his things since he is still undergoing a trial.
He stressed that if by the next adjourned date police did not bring the money, the Prosecution will formally file an application to that effect and he will place an order for the police to bring the money.
The Prosecution Counsel also filed an application asking the court to grant him some time to produce witnesses to testify on the matter.
He said that he has contacted the witnesses, but they are not within reach.
The 1st and 2nd Defendant Counsels did not oppose the application.
The presiding Judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, adjourned to multiple dates 10th 17th, 24th, and 31st January 2020 for a continuation of cross-examination of witnesses.
