Fake doctor defrauds victim of N2m

One Golden Mmaduabuchi ‘m’ 56yrs old has been arraigned before a magistrate court in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for allegedly defrauding one Ibezim Charles Uchenna to the tune of two million, four hundred and sixty nine thousand naira (N2.469,000) through by false pretense that he is a medical doctor.

Before now, the complainant, Uchenna had  petitioned  the state Commissioner of Police that Mmaduabuchi and one other at large  obtained some money from him in pretense of being a medical doctor that he can help his wife to deliver a set of baby twins.

The defendant was also accused of defrauding the complainant at Rumuodomaya in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State through the impersonation of a medical doctor which is punishable under section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Vol 2, Laws of the Rivers State of Nigeria 1999.

The five count charges against the defendant said: “He obtained the sum of N2million from the complainant in pretense of a medical doctor to nurture his pregnant wife till child delivery which was false.

“That the defendant also obtained another N450,000 from the complainant to procure vacuum pump for the delivery of his wife’s unborn baby which was false.

“And that the defendant again obtained the sum of N19,000 from the complainant to procure delivery kits for the delivery of his wife’s unborn baby which was false adding that the defendant was fully aware of his game tricks.”
