Fire razes NYSC camp in Rivers

 A wide fire has gutted sections of the National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, orientation camp in Nonwa Gbam in Tai local government area, Rivers State.

Eye witnesses at the scene of the incidence reported that the inferno started from the kitchen as a result of faulty electrical connections.

Mr Money Dumbari Hope, Senior Special Assistant on Electronic Media to the council chairman Dr.Jacobson Nbina who confirmed the incidence to this weekly on Friday, said the council boss alongside councillors and supervisors has swung into action to ensure the situation is brought under control.

He said some gas cylinders in the kitchen, foams and other explosives were smuggled out of the building by local workers at the camp under the supervision of the council boss in order not to allow  the fire extend to other buildings on the camp.

He also said men of the fire service in the neighborhood has been contacted.

The SSA said the council chairman advised those leaving and doing business in the area and particularly those leaving within the camp  to remain calm and toll the part of safety as the situation was under control.
