Fraud: Rivers Attorney-General tells court to set former directors free

A Magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt and presided over by Magistrate A.O. Amadi has struck out criminal charges against the former Managing Director of Rivers State Micro Finance Agency, Ipalibo Walson Sogules; former Head, SMEs, Mr. Nimi Harry; Head Finance and Accounts, Mr. Ukele Okorji and former Internal Auditor of the agency, Mr. Sofiri Koko.

The presiding magistrate struck out the matter following an application filed by the State Attorney General Professor Zacheaus Adango to discontinue the matter.

The State Attorney General cited section 108, subsection 2 of the Rivers State Criminal and administration Justice Law in court, and pleaded with the court to set the Defendants free.

Recall that the four Defendants were standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and advance free fraud of the sum of thirteen million naira.
