Rivers: Khana, Gokana chairmen order communities to vacate disputed land

The people of Uegwere -Boue in Khana local government area  and  Yeghe community in Gokana  have been asked to stay away from the disputed farmland between both communities.

The directive was handed down by the chairmen of both councils, Elder Lahteh Lah Loolo and  Hon. Paul Vidag Kobani at the boundary adjustment peace meeting held in Bori , the traditional headquarters of the Ogoni.

A statement by Comrade Christian Ganale, the Director of Press Affairs in Khana Council said the authorities of both LGA directed that since the parties involved in the dispute cannot allow peace to prevail on the disputed farmland,  the two communities should stay away from area with immediate effect.

The council chairmen who condemned the atrocities of both communities on the affected land directed security agents to ensure that no one is found doing any business on the disputed  land.

While frowning at the incessant crisis over the disputed farm land, the chairmen said that as a government they will not sit down while two neighbouring communities are at loggerhead over a parcel of land .

In their responses the two traditional rulers representing the affected communities aligned themselves with the position of the two local government authorities and advised their subjects to adhere strictly to the order.

The meeting was attended by have in attendance the vice chairmen of the two LGAs and Heads of security agencies in the area.
