NYCN gives NDDC seven days ultimatum to settle abroad students

By: Felix Ikpotor

The National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, South South, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the management of  Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC,  to settle students under the Commission’s oversea scholarship scheme especially those protesting in the United Kingdom.

Chairman of NYCN in South South, Chijioke Ihunwo described as embarrassing the repeated protest by the students.

Ihunwo in a four point demand also called on the National Assembly to investigate the refusal of the NDDC to pay the tuition fee and allowances of the Niger Delta students.

He also threatened to mobilised youths for a protest, adding that some of the students have reported to the body that non-payment of their fee has exposed them to danger including coronavirus as most them now work to cater for their schooling and funding.

Similarly, the Niger Delta Students Union Government has joined in calling on the NDDC to urgently pay the students.

The body in a statement said it has received complaints from several students on the non-payment of their tuition fee and allowances by the NDDC and frowned at why the commission has refused to pay the students even after President Muhammadu Buhari has given a directive for them to pay the students.

They further appealed to the interim management committee of the commission to pay the fee and allowances of the students as directed by the president.
