Rivers : Suspected cultists kill vigilante commander in Bori

 Gunmen suspected to be cultists have killed a commander of the Khana Peace and Security Advisory Committee (KHASPAC), identified simply as Saro in Bori, Rivers State.

KHASPAC is a local vigilante group set up by the council chairman Lahteh Loolo to tackle security challenges in the area.

The killing was confirmed by a member of KHASPAC who simply gave his name as Christopher.

Christopher disclosed that they were together with the deceased at the Bori Divisional Police Headquarters  before he left for the Motor Park, in Bori, headquarters of Khana LGA, where he was shot by the suspected cultists.

He said that a few minutes after Saro had left his colleagues, they heard gunshots and when they rushed down to the scene, they saw the victim lying in the pool of his blood.

The source disclosed that people at the scene recognised some of the killers, who are from the same community with the deceased.

 Saro, who hailed from Luawii community in Khana LGA, was reportedly shot dead opposite the main Motor Park in Bori.

Rivers  State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Nnamdi Omoni who confirm the killing said before men of the police could mobilize to the scene, the attackers have fled the area.

He added that no arrest has been made at the moment.
