By: Felix Ikpotor

Management of the University of Port Harcourt, has described as fake, a memo dated 23rd November, 2020 and addressed to all students wherein the signature of the Registrar, Dr Dorcas D. Otto was purportedly superimposed calling for resumption of academic activities in the university  starting from Monday, 30 November, 2020.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the school, Sam Kpenu said the memo emanated from an unknown person and does not the registrar.

It reads in part, “for the avoidance of doubt, the Registrar, Dr Dorcas D. Otto did not authorise any memo directing students to report back to the Campus”.

“Parents, guardians and students are advised to disregard the impostor who superimposed the signature of the Registrar in a fake memo circulating on social media”.

Kpenu said the university will announce its resumption date using the conventional media at the appropriate time.

Meanwhile, the Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination earlier scheduled for Monday 30th, November to Saturday 5th, December, 2020 for fresh students in the school has been postponed till further notice.

Kpenu in a statement announcing the postmen said a new date shall be communicated soon but advised intending students to keep checking the university’s website for update.
