…As  CESJERP calls for prosecution

A group known as the Centre For Social Justice and Environmental Right Protection (CESJERP), is now calling for the prosecution of a 38-year-old man, Kpoobari Maama, who allegedly defiled a five-year-old girl at about 8:00pm on the 3rd of December, 2020 at B-Dere Community, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The suspect who is currently in Police net, had reportedly confessed to the crime.

Narrating the incident,  mother of the victim, Mrs. Kegiri Barikuula said, “Yesterday night, I sent my eight years old daughter on an errand and one Mr. Kpoobari Maamaa apprehended my daughter, use his handkerchief to blindfold her and raped her. I am a window I don’t have anybody to fight for me, I need justice for my daughter, she has been bleeding since yesterday night that the incident occurred”

Reacting, to the incident, Executive Director of CESJERP, Legborsi Yamaabana said that the suspect should be prosecuted without further delay.

The human rights activist said, ”we are elated by the news that the police have arrested the 38-year-old man who defiled a 5-year-old girl.”

“This development is pathetic and we call for maximum punishment for this devil in human form according to the laws of our land. Already he has confessed to the crime and therefore deserved not to be allowed to walk free.”

The Human & Environmental Rights Activist said, the rapist is not supposed to cohabit with humans.

“He has betrayed every trust. We are worried that a 38-year-old man would take pleasure in defiling a five -year-old. This is sacrilegious. It is irritating”

He said that his group will assist the police in ensuring that the suspect is prosecuted.
