9th Senate: Senator orji tops list of ex-governors with bills in senate

Senator representing Abia Central District, Senator Theodore Orji, has

been commended by his constituents for emerging top in the list of

former governors in the senate with the highest number of bills.

Senator Orji was rated the “Highest in Legislative Productivity” with

seven bills in a Report Card of the 9th Senate, Volume one, Number one (June 2019 – May 2020) entitled “How Former Governors Stand in Bills

Chart of the 9th Senate”.

But, his predecessor in office as former Abia State Governor,

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has no bill attached to his name.

Some of the bills sponsored by Senator Orji and already signed into law

according to the report include: Food and Security Bill, and the

National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC Amendment Bill.

In the Report Card of the 9th Senate, Senator Abdullahi Adamu,

(APC/Nasarawa West), also has seven bills on the chart.

Those with four bills each include; Senators Aliyu Wamakko, (APC/Sokoto

North); Senator Gabriel Suswam, (PDP/ Benue Northeast) and Senator

Ibikunle Amosun, (APC/Ogun Central).

Former Governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje (Gombe Central),

has three bills.

Also, three Senators who were former Governors have two bills to their

names. They are: Senator Kabiru Gaya (APC/Kano South); Senator Ibrahim

Geidam (APC/Yobe East; Senator Sam Egwu (PDP/ Ebonyi North); and Senator

Adamu Aliero (APC/Kebbi Central)

Former Enugu State governor, Chimaroke Nnamani (PDP/Enugu East) Umaru

Tanko Al-makura (APC/Nasarawa South), has one bill, each.

Meanwhile, three former Governors without bills include Senator Ibrahim

Shekarau, (APC/Kano Central); Senator Rochas Okorocha, (APC/Imo West),

and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, (APC/Abia North).

A cross section of Abia Central constituents, including Sir Chidiebere

Nwachukwu, Sir Frank Ibe and Chief Randy Ukanwoke congratulated the

Senator for his superlative performance in legislative productivity,

adding that his performance ahead of his counterparts was a confirmation

that the zone has a quality representation at the Senate.

The constituents also commended the senator for delivering many

constituency projects and empowerment programmes in the district

particularly his annual scholarship award and youth empowerment.

Some of the several completed and ongoing projects by the Senator

include 12 Classroom Block at Okwuta Community, Umuahia North LGA; 12

Classroom Block at Ikem Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA; and on-going Road

Construction Project at Mbawsi, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, among others.
