Court threatens bench warrant against Rivers CP over disappearance of suspects from custody

A Rivers State High sitting in Port Harcourt has ordered the state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan to produce one Sergeant Amanzi Dike and other officers of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, who were part of the Investigation team in a case involving one Beatrice Ogunka who is on Police administrative bail.

Justice Sika Henry-Aprioku in a ruling on a suit brought by Rivers State Government against Promise Thomson, Lucky Nwakoma, Queen Chisom-Lucky and Beatrice Ogunka as Defendants, also ordered the CP to produce Beatrice Ogunka on the 21st of December, 2020.

Justice Henry-Aprioku wants the CP to appear in the court on the 21st of December, 2020 to explain the whereabouts of Sergeant Amanzi Dike and other officers who were part of the Investigation team that has failed to produce Beatrice Ogunka.

He threatened to issue a bench warrant against the Commissioner of Police should he fail to appear in court at 10am on Monday, the 21st of December, 2020 to give explanation on the issues raised.

It was gathered that Sergeant Amanzi Dike and members of his investigative team are alleged to have granted bail to some suspects who were arrested on allegations of murder and stealing and allowed them to flee after collecting a huge sum of money.
