IAUE students protest reoccurring cancellation of exams

Scores of final year students of the Rivers State owned Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Monday, protested on the university campus over recurring cancellation of their exams by the school authority.

It was gathered that the protest was as a result of the cancellation of Edu411 and Edu413 examinations for the third time.

The school management in a memo, said the reason for the initial cancellation was due to leaking out of the examination question papers which resulted in large number of success by the students.

The school’s Senate, it was gathered had fixed today for the re-sitting of the examination but later cancelled it.

Comr. Destiny Omunakuw, President of the Student Union Government of the University, who addressed the final year students at the SUG building said he will make sure that the already written examinations stand.

He also urged the students to go home and celebrate the Christmas with joy, and have it at the back of their minds that the examination can’t be canceled.

Meanwhile, the Director Student Affairs in the school, Dr. C. A. Ajie told the protesting students that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ozor Mekuri-Ndimele has declared the already convened examinations which were to hold today and tomorrow cancelled.

He added that the school management will meet with the S. U. G to resolve the matter.
