Rivers police hunts for killers of its men in Port Harcourt

Rivers State Police Command is now searching for the suspected gunmen that attack its officers at a checkpoint in Port Harcourt.

Unknown gunmen on Sunday night shot and killed a police officer from the Borikiri police station in Port Harcourt during a surprise attack that left two other officers wounded.

The police team was on a stop and search routine operation when the gunmen in a vehicle opened fire on them.

The incident occurred at Captain Amangala Junction in Borikiri.

The hoodlums carted away two rifles belonging to the officers during the attack.

Spokesperson of the Police in Rivers Stae, SP Nnamdi Omoni in a statement said the Commissioner of Police in the State, Joseph Mukan has given a marching order to all tactical units to arrest the perpetrators of the crime immediately.

He further revealed that the corpse of the late Inspector has been evacuated and deposited in a mortuary for autopsy.
