Sokoto fire: NGF donates N50m to victims

The Nigeria Governors Forum has donated N50m to the Sokoto State Government and victims of the Sokoto Central Market fire which occurred last week.

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State announced the donation when he visited the scene of the fire in Sokoto.

PHSpectator recalls that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike had lastweek visited Tambuwal and also donated N500m to the government and victims.

Accompanied by the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Simon Lalong; and Govovernor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of  Jigawa State, Fayemi said the NGF would pursue the pledge made by the Federal Government to the state government and the victims of the inferno.

Similarly, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, while receiving the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party at the Government House,over the fire disaster, expressed gratitude to the NWC and the party for its goodwill.

In his remarks, the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Ibrahim Umar Tsauri, noted that “the relationship existing between the PDP, the governor, government and the people of Sokoto State was one that could not be explained.”
