Rivers: Gunmen kill OSPAC operative in ONELGA

 Gunmen suspected to be cultists who operate an oil bunkering ring have killed a member of a local vigilate group known as the ONELGA Security and Peace Advisory Council, OSPAC, in Obagi community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

It was gathered  that the gunmen attacked the OSPAC operative simply identified as Ebuka and butchered him with a machete.

The gunmen also shot sporadically into the air to scare away neighbours from intervening during the attack.

 Attacks on the security outfit have intensified in the area recently, sparking fears of a return to a high level of insecurity in the area.

Community sources said that the oil thieves have of recent, declared war on the operatives of the outfits for leading military personnel into disrupting their operations.

Similarly, a hotel in Omoku, the headquarters of the LGA was attacked at the weekend by unknown gunmen.

No fewer than seven persons were said to have been abducted during the attack on Abiama Rises hotel along Sambo road. A security guard said to be an OSPAC operative was also killed during the attack.
