By: Felix Ikpotor

A group known as the Centre for Social Justice and Environmental Rights Protection (CSJERP) has asked the Sole Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Effiong Akwa to resign or face legal action.

Executive Director of the centre, Legborsi Yamaabana in a statement by his lawyers gave the sole administrator thirty days to handover to the most senior career civil servant in the commission or face legal battle.

According to the pre-action notice sent by lawyers to CSJERP to the commission, it cited the infraction on the NDDC Act as reason for the action.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government

In December, 2020 appointed an interim sole administer to administer the interventionist agency following the sacking of the Professor Pondei led interim management committee, an action that have received wild spread condemnation from stakeholders in the region who had rather advised the President Muhammadu Buhari led government to appoint a substantive board for the commission.
