Cultists kill ten in Rivers community

By: Admin

Atleast ten persons were reportedly killed in Luebe community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

A source from the community said the killings occurred on Sunday night at a burial in Luebe community.

The source accused a rival cult group known as Jagaban of carrying out the attacks on the community.

The source said, “Jagaban is a cult group that merged with Degbam cult group after it broke out of Iceland cult group.

“Jagaban cultists have been on exile since they dumped the Iceland cult group.

“Before now, the Iceland cult group has been oppressing the community, making life uncomfortable for the relatives of the exiled Jagaban cultists.

“Last night at a burial in my community, the fleeing Jagaban cultists invaded and shot sporadically for hours, killing over 10 persons.

“As I speak to you now, my community has been deserted as everybody has fled into neighbouring communities for safety.

“When the Bori Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako came this morning to the scene with his men, he was able to evacuate some innocent villagers who fled into the bush and could not come out due to fear of being killed.”

When contacted on phone by our correspondent, the DPO in charge of the area, SP Bako said, “it was a selected killing by cultists and only five persons died while one is still receiving treatment at a hospital.

“An aggrieved cult group got information that their rival cult group was at a burial wake keeping in the community.

“So, they stroke and killed only young boys who were suspected cultists at the burial.

‘We have banned all wake keeping in Khana LGA and yet they went ahead to hold a burial wake keeping without informing the police,’ the DPO narrated.
