You don’t have any reason to fail, Wike tells council chairmen

By: Felix Ikpotor

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said that those criticising him that he’s doing projects only in Obio Akpor and Port Harcourt City local government areas of the state are merely playing politics as his projects are in all the local government areas of the state.

Wike who spoke at the grand finale of the PDP local government election campaign in Obio Akpor said he will be leaving office in 2023 on a high flying note  due to his massive achievement in office.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Emeka Woke, the governor’s charged LGA chairmen to replicate the massive development in the state at the grassroots.

“The State government has provided the enabling environment for LGA chairmen to perform as the state government has not touched one kobo that belonged to the local governments so whoever does not perform is left for him/her.

“As a policy of state, we have also addressed security challenges in the state to enable them perform their duties”

On his part, the State PDP chairman, Desmond Akawor said the party won’t take for granted the fact that it’s ready and would win the LGA in the forthcoming polls .

“Don’t listen to anybody. Let s come out on Saturday and vote Barrister Ariolu and all his councillors”.

He described the chairmanship candidate as someone who  can deliver having worked and  served under the governor.

On his part, the PDP candidate, George Ariolu thanked Governor Wike and the party for remembering his community Oginigba by giving them the highest position in the LGA.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of flags to councillorship candidates.

Similarly, the PDP candidate for Port Harcourt City local government, Allwell Ihunda has promised to continue the good works of governor Nyesom Wike if elected into office in Saturday.

Speaking at the PDP rally in PHALGA, Ihunda promised to offer purposeful leadership to the people of the area.

Also, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for Khana local government area, Dr. Thomas Bariere has thanked the governor, Nyesom Wike and the party for giving him the chance to contest the elections.

Bariere in a thank you message said a vote for PDP in the Saturday polls is a vote for security and development in Khana and encouraged all electorates in the area to come out enmass and vote for candidates of the party.
