Rivers 2023: Amaechi gets backing over zoning

Some stakeholder in Obio Akpor local government area, Rivers State have thrown their weight behind the decision of the Minister of Transportation and leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Chibuike Amaechi to zone the 2023 governorship ticket to the riverine area.

Caretaker Committee Chairman of APC in Obior/Akpor Local government, Hon. Godwin Wobo while speaking at a sensitization rally for the ongoing revalidation and registration exercise in Ward 11 and 13 in the LGA said zoning the ticket to the riverine is a step in the right direction.

He said APC is repacking to takeover the Brick House in 2023

“Zoning the APC governorship ticket for the 2023 elections is a nice opinion and we all support it.

“If you are in custody of political antecedents in the this state, you will understand that we are following a two dichotomy. Right from the administration of Chief Okilo to the present one led by Nyesom Wike, it has been upland and riverine. A man who is fair and committed to this type of project must tell you the fact. So, this time around, let’s give it to the riverine because it will give them sense of belonging that they are part of Rivers State.

In their separate speeches, conveners of the exercise, Ibitoru Green and Lady Ijeoma Ukpabi said the APC is repacking to takeover the Rivers brick house come 2023.

Green stated the time is ripe for the riverine to ascend the governorship position of the state for equity and fairness.

She commended Amaechi for zoning the party’s governorship ticket for the 2023 elections to the riverine.

“We are tired of seeing what is happening in this state, so today we are out to sensitize the people to revalidate and register in order to participate in bringing change to our state. You cannot sit at home to talk about change, when you sit there and tomorrow they bring another governor, you will complain.

“Rotimi Amaechi believes that it’s time for the riverine people to takeover. We are here to bring change. We want an Ijaw governor come 2023”.

On her part, Ukpabi noted that the Supreme Court judgement that declared Isaac Ogbobula Acting Chairman of the party restored sustainable peace and unity in APC in the state.

“We are sensitizing the youths, the women, both old and intending members of our party, APC on the need to come out and revalidate and register with the APC”.

Leader of APC in Obio/Akpor Ward 11, Bright Otuonye and the CTC Chairman in Ward 13, Pastor Fyneface Ebere accused the PDP led state government of neglecting the youths.

“We are tired of this government, we want a change. What we need is human capacity development but we don’t see it and that is why we calling on Rivers people to come and revalidate and register with the APC to reposition our state come 2023.

“We have also seen the suffering the youths are passing through. About 97 to 98 percent of them are jobless and the vices in the society today is as a result of the neglect of the youths by the government.

“This is why the APC is yearning and is ready to takeover the brick house in 2023. And when we takeover, the youths will be the priority, we will empower them”.
