LG poll: Aggrieved PDP memebers lambast Wike over imposition of candidate

Some aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State have condemned the imposition of Hope Ikiriko on them ahead of the April 17, 2021 local government election in the state.

Ikiriko is the incumbent chairman of the Ahoada West Council and will be contesting the forthcoming election on the platform of his party, the PDP.

Speaking on behalf of the aggrieved PDP members of the LGA, one Hon Daniel Akosi said Ikiriko does not deserve a second term in office as chairman of the council.

He said, “the imposition of Ikiriko on us by Governor Wike is bad and a disservice to us.

“Ikiriko was in House of Assembly as lawmaker for 12 years and couldn’t site any project in Ahoada West.

“He luckily became the chairman of our LGA and has still not done any developmental project in our LGA.

“We were expecting another candidate to replace Ikiriko but the governor went ahead and imposed Ikiriko on us.

“Take a look at the Ahoada Council Secretariat; the gates and fence that Ikiriko said he was constructing have not been completed as I speak to u.

“He (Ikiriko) promised us electricity and has not been able to give us power. A lot of communities in Ahoada West are still in total darkness.”

But the concerned Ahoada West PDP members did not confirm to our correspondent if they will vote for Ikiriko or not in the forthcoming LG poll.. B8zcOIs{s
