Rivers council chair to rebrand Transport Scheme

…Urge youths to embrace education

By: Nlewedum Emmanuel

Chairman of Abua/Odual local government area of Rivers State, Hon. Daniel Daniel said his second term in office will focus on rebranding the council transport scheme.

Daniel dropped the hint in a chat with newsmen in his hometown Anyu, Odual in Abua/Odual local government area of Rivers State.

Daniel was elected for a second term in the just concluded local government council elections.

He noted that vehicles operating in the Abua/Odual Local Government Area Transport Scheme were old and needs changes.

“Where we will focus this time around is more on transportation. I found out that the Abua/Obual transport company is full of old vehicles and so, I need to rebrand it to bring in new and faster vehicles”.

He said the council will also establish another transport scheme that will operate from Odual to Bayelsa.

“We will also do Odual to Bayelsa since the existing one operates from Abua to Port Harcourt. This is because the Odual people don’t go to Port Harcourt as the Abua people do”.

“The truth is that Abua was in Owerri division, while Odual was in Brass division so they brought them together to form Abua/Odual LGA”.

The Council Boss who stated that his administration will continue to encourage human capital development, also advised the youths to embrace education and entrepreneural skills to enable them contribute meaningfully to development of the LGA, Rivers state and country at large.

“I will continue to encourage human capital development among my people as I have been doing. Last month I gave out over two million to purchase JAMB form for people to go to school”

He enjoined the youth and the people of Odual to strive, be industrious, exhibit good conduct and desist from acts that could hamper their progress in life.

He urged them to exploit their talents for the social, economic and political development of the area and also develop positive attitude to life, so that they could grow to become responsible leaders and major contributors to the development of the area.

He however hailed the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), for conducting a violence free election but regretted low turnout of voters at the pool.
