Rivers College of Health HOD rapes year 1 student

One Mr. Princewill Chukwure Chikagbobi, Head of Dental Surgery Department in the Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology (RIVCOTECH)

 has been accused of raping one Miss Gbara, a year one student in his department.

Mother of the victim, Mrs. Lemon Gbara who disclosed this to newsmen said the HOD lured her daughter to his office and raped her repeatedly. She added that before the incident, the said lecturer was always harassing her daughter each time she comes to submit assignment in his office. 

“He called my daughter to his office to help him put on generator and he locked his office and raped her to his satisfaction and threatened to ensure that she doesn’t graduate from the school if she tell anyone about it. This happened on the 20th of April,” she said.

The widow said the incident has traumatized her daughter as its making her want to commit suicide.

While calling for justice, she said the incident has been reported at the human rights desk of the Rivers State Police Command.

Mrs Gbara further called on the school management to relieve the said lecturer of his duty as his actions is bringing bad name to the school

When contacted, the lecturer denied the allegation and said it was an attempt to smear his image and further promised to give his side of the story at the appropriate time.

However, some students of the school who spoke with our reporter said the practice of lecturers demanding for sex from students was rampant in virtually all departments of the institution.

Management of the school was yet to react to the allegation at the time of this report.
