Landlord locks PHED office in Port Harcourt over unpaid rent

By: Felix Ikpotor

An office belonging to the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED, in the Ogbunabali axis of Port Harcourt was Thursday morning locked due to unpaid six months rents spanning from December 2020 to May 2021.

A resident of the area who disclosed this to PHSPectator said PHED staffers and customers were stranded in the morning as they couldn’t get access into the office, adding that the staffers were made to attend to customers in their vehicles before the issue was resolved by top management officials of the company.

“This morning landlord locked that PHED office that the company is owing him rent. He even sat in front with a chair waiting for the workers to arrive”

Confirming the incident, Head, Corporate Affairs of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, Mrs Chioma Emeghara Aninwe in a social media message said it was a communication gap, adding that the issue has been resolved.

“In clear conscience, we acknowledge the unfortunate incident that occurred this morning premised on communication gap. The issue has been completely resolved and normal business activities are in full swing,” she said.
