Elders council raise alarm over kidnap of IYC president, insist on protest

Elders Forum of the Ijaw Youth Council,IYC, has condemned the reported abduction of the President of IYC Worldwide, Deacon Igbifa Peters.

Peters was reportedly whisked away this morning in Port Harcourt.

Chairman of the IYC Elders Forum, Eastern Zone, Elder Fiyasiri Eweleye in a statement described the act as despicable and an affront on the highest personality of the IYC.

He further demands his immediate release and apology from his abductors.

Eweleye in a statement said, “this underhand and life-threatening infraction on the revered IYC personality is abominable and an acronym on the entire Ijaw Nation.

“Going by the reported last words(by his driver that ‘the shutdown plan on all multi-national oil companies in the zone should go on’, inspite of his (Peter Igbifa absence), the youths of the Niger Delta will go on with the action as earlier outlined from tomorrow, Wednesday, May 26,2021”.

“The Federal Government should constitute the Governing Board of NDDC. Enough of sole administration and temporary measures”.

PHSpectator recalls that Igbifa had few weeks ago threatened to shut down all facilities of oil companies in the region in what he described as “mother of all protest” if the presidency refuses to inaugurate a substantive board for the Niger Delta Development Commission.
