Cassava factory: Rivers PDP Chairman commends Wike for revolutionizing agriculture

Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Desmond Akawor has commended Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for completing and commissioning the Rivers State Cassava Flour Processing Factory located at Afam in Oyigbo Local Government area.

Akawor said the initiative would not only boost the revenue base of the state but also put more money in the pockets of rural farmers, especially garri producers within the locality.

The PDP boss, who noted that the project is very significant to the people of Oyigbo, said it is a manifestation of the love the Governor has for the people of the area. “The Governor would have forgotten about the project since it had been abandoned by the previous government, but realising its importance to the people and the benefit the state would derive from it, he decided to take on the project which has been abandoned since 2012.

“ With this project here in Oyigbo many people will now come to Oyigbo to look for available land on which to plant Cassava and sell to the factory, thereby making raw materials available to the firm and improving the economy” he said.

He praised the people of Oyigbo and neighboring communities for their cooperation with the construction firm that handled the building of the gigantic cassava flour plant, the first if its kind anywhere in the country, urging them to continue to maintain the spirit as actual production begins.

He used the opportunity to express gratitude to all those who graced the occasion saying that their presence had done wonders to the ego of the people of the area.

Ambassador Akawor enjoined the people to continue to have faith in the administration of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, assuring that the Governor will not leave them out in the scheme of things in his government.
