Mr Godwin Otene, the father to a slain commercial bus driver, Christian Otene popularly known as Biggy has narrated how his son was killed by an operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, attached to the Rivers State Taskforce on Street Trading and Illegal Motor Parks.

Christian Otene was on Tuesday shot dead by a  personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps along NTA road in the Obio/ Akpor axis of the state over alleged violation of parking rules.

The father of the deceased told reporters  that his son was on his lawful commercial bus business when the state taskforce vehicle intercepted him over allegation of wrong parking.

“While my son was explaining to the taskforce personnel that he did not violate the rules of wrong parking, a taskforce member brought out axe to hit his head.

“My son held the axe and other taskforce members started dragging him.

As he (my son) attempted to resist them, the NSCDC operative working with the state taskforce shot my son to death,” the father narrated.

The body of the slain commercial bus driver has been deposited at the Mortuary of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile, the union representing commercial drivers in the state has vowed to put an end to any extra-judicial killing of its members by authorities of government.
