Rivers: Obarilomate commences work at Onne civic centre

… Destroy more  shanties

 Chairman of Eleme LGA in Rivers State, Chief Obarilomate Ollor  has commenced work at the Onne ultramodern civic centre.

Ollor who paid a supervisory visit to the site of the long abandoned edifice where work had started assured that the project will be completed within his 100 days in office. This comes barely a  few days after the Eleme council boss took engineers to assess level of work to be done at the building.

In a related development,  Obarilomate Ollor has met with Onne Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Liaison Officers (CLO) of all companies in Onne in a bid to address issues relating to the growth and development of the people among which includes; companies and CLOs not meeting up their responsibilities, cases of one CLO liaising on behalf of multiple companies, sales of employment opportunities to undeserving persons among others.

Speaking shortly after the meeting, Ollor said after all deliberations, they decided to engage the Oil & Gas Free Zone Authority and the management of Intels and NPA on some of the issues raised which bothers on them not allowing the community benefits from the Corporate Social Responsibility of the companies.

He further stated that the meeting reached a peaceful end and at the end as they were able to advice the people not to engage in protest that will portray them as not friendly to the companies that are operating within their domain.

He said a communique on the outcome of the meeting will be made public shortly adding that similar meeting will be held in Ebubu and other communities in Eleme.

Meanwhile, the council chairman has demolished another shanties in the area known as Cocaine Village, notorious for harbouring criminal elements.

The chairman who led security personnel and youths to burn down more criminal hideouts also struck a nip in the bud as he battled the return of more batchers and shanties at the trailer park axis of the council.

Obarilomate maintained  his quest to ensure perpetrators of crime find Eleme and it’s environs uncomfortable and thus, vowed to transform Eleme to a safe investment destination.
