Amaechi wants to destroy APC in Rivers-RVF

By: Felix Ikpotor

A political pressure group in Rivers State known as Rivers Voice of Freedom (RVF) has condemned the alleged attack on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to Senator Magnus Abe in  Rivers State by persons suspected to be from the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi faction.

It also accused Amaechi of fighting hard to destroy the party in the state.

Members loyal to Abe were reportedly attacked on Sunday at Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni local government area where they had gathered for a briefing concerning the revalidation/registration exercise of the party.

Reports from ONELGA said persons suspected to be from the Amaechi camp stormed the venue and destroyed chairs and tables and injured some persons.

Reacting to the incident, RVF in a statement signed by its President-General, Comrade Dominic Dumekpigi and other leaders described the act as an indication that the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is not ready for peace to strive in the party.

The statement reads:

“It is now clear that the Hon. Minister for Transportation has not yet learnt any lesson and he is not also ready for peace to strive in the Party, APC, Rivers State.

“One would wonder what is the gain of this continuous attack on citizens of the State holding peaceful gathering by unscrupulous miscreants whose actions are inimical to the peaceful coexistence and right to peaceful gathering as a party. However, we understand now that Rotimi Amaechi who by virtue of the constitution cannot contest governorship election in Rivers State will stop at nothing as earlier vowed and going by his antecedents to destroy the party and further frustrate all efforts made by the National Caretaker Committee to restore peace in the party. Indeed, Rivers people and the nation can now see that Amaechi and his cohorts do not want peace in the party and Rivers State in general for his selfish gains, whims and caprices”.

While chastising the youths who allowed themselves to be used to perpetrate the act, the group reminded them that: “At their age, Amaechi was an SA, Speaker and Governor of the State, yet they are brainwashed by same man who is bent  on destroying others while his family and children are having the best in life. On the other hand, he is destroying others in order to deny them attaining the political height and  success he attained”.

It called on Rivers youths not to allowed themselves to be used as acrimonious tools, rather they should look afar and beyond little money for brief relief.

The group called on the Inspector General of Police, the State Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to bring the perpetrators of the crime to book.
