Water producers in Rivers State happy with ministry’s sanitisation effort

Water Producers Association of Nigeria (WAPAN), Rivers State Chapter, and her sister organization,   Association of Table Water Producers of Nigeria  (ATWAP), have commended the efforts of the State Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development, Dr Tamunosis Gogo Jaja, towards sanitizing water production in the State.

This followed the sealing of some water factories in the Diobu axis of Rivers State by the State  Commissioner recent.

A joint statement signed by the chairmen of the two organizations, Mr Egberi  Odiri Mackson (WAPAN) and  Pastor  Agape Onuh (ATWAP), stated that the Commissioner’s efforts are in line with the organizations’ standard of ensuring sanity in the water production business.

“We hereby express our satisfaction over the drive by the Rivers State Ministry of Water Resources and Rural Development  in santizing and regulating the water industry of the State, geared towards ensuring that standards are maintained among practitioners.

“May we state categorically that such drive by the Ministry is in tendem with the laws governing our associations and we strongly believe it will protect lives of residents of the State and our business as quacks and illegal activities will be eliminated”, the statement  said.

Continuing, the statement clarified that, the recently sealed factories are not members of the both association and encouraged the public to only buy water product that belongs to the associations.

It also enjoined all water producers, including satchet and bottled water, to, as a matter of necessity ensure that their business environments are kept clean at all times to avoid the risk of being sealed.

While commending the Commissioner and his team for the milestone recorded so far in the sector, the organizations pledged their “unflinching support to record more success stories” in the same direction.

They assured residents of the State, saying “we are committed to delivering quality water supply in the State”.
