Troops eliminate terrorists after assault on military convoy in Borno

Some Boko Haram terrorists were killed in Borno State on Sunday after a Nigerian military bombardment.

Troops carried out a successful offensive on their hideouts in the Gubio axis of the state.

The operation followed Saturday’s ambush of personnel by the terrorists.

The sect members launched an attack as officers and men moved along Gubio/Damasak highway at Kareto in the northern part of Borno.

They caught the motorcade by surprise and opened fire from different spots.

The troops had to retreat after suffering casualties. The figure has not been ascertained.

Intelligence sources confirmed that the reprisal against the insurgents left dozens dead while weapons and ammunition were also recovered.
