By: Felix Ikpotor

With eyes on the 2023 general elections in Rivers State, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  in the state, Ambassador Chikwe Orlu has called on ethnic groups in the state especially the Ikwerres to support the Ogonis to be the next governor.

Orlu spoke in Tai local government area on Saturday during the inauguration of the LGA chapter of the Rivers Voice of Freedom (RVF).

RVF is a socio-political pressure in Rivers APC loyal to Senator Magnus Ngei Abe.

He noted that the Ogonis have been supportive of others and especially the Ikwerres, so it is proper for them to get similar support this time around to produce the next governor of the state.

He said, “I also use this medium to call on our Ikwerre brothers that when it was their time, the Ogonis supported them, they should also support an Ogoniman now especially Senator Magnus Abe as he will not fail them”.

Ambassador Chikwe  Orlu who represented Abe at the event charge the people of the area not to relent in their struggle for justice.

“We are aware of the support from the people since 2019 in this struggle, let them not relent in their support. They should go out there in their wards and units to ensure that equity, fairness and justice is done.We charge them to be the watchdog of our project because it is for the benefit of all, ” he said.

On his part, leader of APC in Tai, Ambassador Prince Akekue expressed optimism that the mission to make Abe governor in 2023 is realizable.

He added that the people of the area are happy to be associated with RVF because they are carrying the voice of justice.

“The voice we have is the voice of Senator Magnus Abe and indeed youths of Rivers State saying that injustice is not allowed. Internal democracy should be practiced.

The mission to make Abe governor in 2023 is the people’s mission and in politics, the only asset you work with is the people. When the people are on your side, you are on the right path. Magnus’ handiwork is speaking for him here. There is no community in Rivers South East that the footprints of Magnus is not there and because of that, the people have been yearning for him to come and rule. Magnus Abe is the people’s choice and by God’s grace he will succeed,” he said.

Earlier, President-General of RVF, Comrade Dominic Dumekpigi said  the  group is made up of people especially youths yearning for change, emancipation, justice, equity, fairness and good governance.

He said: “Youths are the future of the society, so it behooves on us to take our future in our hands that is why we have the formation of RVF to preach against injustice so that we can have our say as youths in the political space, so we can also have a way to protect our leaders in the political space and oppose what is not right and avoid being enslaved by greedy leaders. We have chosen Most Distinguished Senator Magnus Abe as our grand patron because he has the youths at heart”.

He urged the newly inaugurated executives to go all out and mobilize for Abe in the coming elections.

The newly inaugurated LGA Chairman of RVF, Kagbara Lekue Justus said he will mobilized his group to go to all nooks and crannies of the area to galvanise support for Abe.

PHSpectator reports that the group earlier paid a courtesy call on the Gbenemene of Tai Kingdom, HM, King Godwin Gininwa at his palace in Korokoro.
