The Ogoni Youth Federation (OYF) has passed a vote of confidence on Comrade Legborsi Sunday Yamaabana as its legitimate and only president-general.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end the body’s National Executive Council meeting held in Port Harcourt.

The communiqué which was signed by Lekue Kingsley Lekue, Mesua Mtormabari and Ikeh Albert respectively also validated all actions taken by Yamaabana before the meeting.

The communiqués reads thus:

“That the constitution, traditions and practices of OYF be strictly adhered to in finding solutions to any problems.

That the National Executive Council passed a vote of confidence on Comrade Legborsi Yamaabana as the authentic, legitimate and the only constitutionally recognized President- General of OYF.

That all parties should sheath their sword in the best and overall interest of OYF and the need to unceasingly demand for environmental justice, restoration of the conterminated land, waterways , aquatic life and the avowed determination of protecting the collective interest of the  Ogoni Nation.

That OYF shall not handle with kid gloves any member or members who after the passage of this resolution connive or conspire to cause disaffection, division and factionalize OYF without recourse to the provisions of the constitution.

That every subsisting transaction, action, decision and contractual relationship created by the President-General between any individual, organization and governments prior to the passage of this resolution is valid and not subject to ratification.

That the NEC expressed appreciation to district , Local government coordinators , all members home and in diaspora who remained resolute and unshaken amid crisis and imbroglio which rocked our noble and globally venerated union , and passionately appealed to the public to repose confidence, keep faith and partner with OYF as a virile youth group determined to emancipate the Ogoni National from political, social and economic strangulation”.

PHSpectator reports that OYF had earlier been enmeshed in leadership crisis leading to the suspension of some members.
