Asari threatens to deal with Prince Karibo over kingship tussle

Dokubo Asari, a Niger Delta activist has warned one Karibo Abbiyiboye Aribo Abbi who is laying claims to the kingship stool of Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom to desist from causing trouble in the kingdom or be dealt with.

A faction of the royal stool of the Amayanabo seekers led by Karibo had recently broke into the King Amachree Hall to install him as Amanyanabo.

The faction who were supported by a contingent of security agents also broke into the Akaso shrine to perform installation rituals of their factional king and forcefully appointed another Waingi Alabo (Chief Priest Of The Akaso).

Recall that the kingdom had been thrown into a leadership crisis since the alleged death of the former Amanyanabo; King, Professor TJ Princewill, who died in 2019. His remains have been in the mortuary since then.

Asari in a video posted on his Facebook page also blamed the family of the late Amanyanabo for failing to bury him immediately. He equally accused them of using the opportunity to collect accruals for the throne from the local government area.

He, however, said that if Karibo desires to be the Amanyanabo, he has to do it through the right channel.

According to him, any more act of brigandage by the faction will be met with stiff resistance, adding that they are capable of resisting him and sponsors.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Onengiyeofori George has directed that no activities should be held at the King Amachree Square, Buguma town without the approval of the Council, saying that henceforth approval must be sought for the usage of the Buguma town square irrespective of the nature of the event, be it religious, cultural or political.

The ASALGA Council Chairman gave this directive during a meeting with youth leaders, women leaders and Chiefs of Da Abbi Royal House following the botched pseudo installation of the Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom by a faction of the warring family who forcefully gained access to the already closed Royal Halls, pretending to install an Amanyanabo for the Kalabari people.

George commended the youth leaders and Chiefs of Da Abbi Royal House for maintaining peace in the community despite the actions of some persons who are not of the Royal blue blood actively participating in the botched pseudo kingship installation brouhaha on Saturday 18th September.

He added that their peaceful disposition, notwithstanding, the provocation as visibly orchestrated and sponsored by enemies of the Stool of the Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom, should be seen not as a weakness but as great virtue for the respect and honor of Da Amachree Dynasty.
