Rivers govt shuts bill board showing 60 seconds pornography, arrests two

Rivers State Signage and Advertisement Agency (RISAA) has shutdown a billboard around Garrison flyover which on Thursday, drew the irk of members of the public when it showed a 60 seconds pornograhic film.

Two staffers of E-Motion Communications Nigeria Ltd, owners of the billboard have also been arrested.

It was reported that the clip was on repeat for about an hour.

The agency in a statement on Friday said it is not taking the matter lightly.

RISAA’s Managing Director, Hon. Anthony Okeah described the action as “the unprofessional display of a video by an outdoor practitioner on their LED billboard at Garrison.”

The agency stressed: “Let it be known that RISAA is not responsible for the regulation of contents on billboards, as it is the sole responsibility by Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON. RISAA is mandated by law to [register] billboard structures in Rivers State.”

“The visual aesthetic of Rivers State is of major priority to the agency.”.

Briefing journalists on the development Tony Okeah said  investigations would be carried out to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the display of such nude video. He said the company has caused public nuisance and explanations should be made as to the reason for such obscene and indecent movie on the public space.
