Rivers council chairman charges party officials on grassroot mobilisation

Officers of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Emohua local government area of Rivers State have been charged to reinvigorate the party in their different wards and communities, to improve the fortunes of the party  ahead of the next general election in Nigeria.

Chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd gave the charge during a visit to the local government party secretariat in Rumuji town on Wednesday.

Lloyd urged the executives of the party at the LGA and ward levels to take advantage of their position to win more supporters to the PDP in their localities, rather than make things difficult for those willing to join the party, stating that politics is a game of number where no single individual can singlehandedly secure victory for a political party.

He said his administration will continue to provide the necessary support for the executive committee of the party to reposition the party ahead of the next general election.

Ahead of the national convention of the PDP slated to hold in Abuja between 30th and 31th October 2021,  Lloyd disclosed that preparations are in top gear for LGA executives and ward chairmen of the PDP in Emohua local government area to join other stakeholders of the party at the convention.

Responding, chairman of PDP in the area, Hon Uche Minikwu said the executives of the party in the LGA and ward levels are very much impressed with the achievements of the chairman within his one hundred days in office, stressing that the council chairman has already changed the narrative in the local government area with unimaginable infrastructural development within the short time.

Minikwu noted the council chairman’s commitment not only to the development of the area but also to the growth of the PDP across the LGA and beyond.

He thanked the council chairman for capturing the LGA and ward executives of the PDP in his administration’s empowerment program, describing the gesture as first of its kind.

Speaking further, the LGA party chairman reiterated his gratitude to the leadership of PDP in Emohua LGA for their unflinching support to the executives of the party at the LGA and ward levels, promising to maximize the gains of the party in subsequent elections.
