Rivers: Khana council will prioritise welfare of our ex- servicemen-Bariere

Executive Chairman of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State,  Dr. Thomas Bariere has assured members of the Nigeria Legion, Khana Chapter of continuous government support.

He made this declaration while presenting his welcome address at the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration held at the council secretariat Bori.

Thomas explained that the bravery, commitment, and love for nation exhibited by the men of the armed forces is one key reason we have a Nigeria to live in today.

“We all know the role the armed forces play in the live of any nation, their bravery, commitment and love for nation is key to the unity of this country. And so as a proactive government at this level, we will forever remain grateful for the role they played and are playing in ensuring peace and security across our land”.

“Some of this brave men standing before us today and some that have travelled to the great beyond sacrificed everything for the unity and continuous existence of this nation. Thus the reason why this day is very important to us as a nation”

Speaking further  the council chairman stressed the need to continually support and encourage legionnaires

He said ” For the men of the Nigerian Legion Khana chapter, they are retired but not tired and we know that from time to time they need the support of government to carry on, that is why this administration has made a commitment to see that their welfare is prioritised as long as we remain in government”.

The Khana council boss further charged the head of local government to ensure that every promise made by the previous administration’s to the Legionnaires and  yet to be fulfilled is revisited for proper action because government is a continuum.

He prayed for the souls of the departed fallen heroes to continue to find rest and for the protection of the men of the Nigeria armed forces  especially those putting their lives on the line for the unity of this nation.
