Rivers Police arrest 8 cultists, armed robbery suspects, recover arms

The Rivers State Police command said it has arrested 8 suspects for armed robbery and cultism at different locations in the state.

The Police spokesperson, DSP Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement made available to journalists in Port Harcourt said four of the suspected cultists were arrested on Monday at the Abonnema Whalf axis of the state.

“Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command, while responding to a distress call on 4th April 2022 at Abonnema Wharf where miscreants were attacking officials of Petroleum Task Force, arrested four suspects namely; Lucky Monday Yaatee ‘m’ aged 22years, Bala Ibrahim ‘m’ aged 20 years, Izuchukwu Eze ‘m’ aged 39years and Okro Agu ‘m’ aged 51 years,” she said.

DSP Iringe-Koko disclosed that the officers, in a bid to chase other fleeing suspects, stormed some shanties where they recovered different arms and ammunitions to include; one MKIV Service 80 pistol, one MAKAROV pistol, two double-barrel, automatic pump action, three Barretta 5mm live cartridges, sixty nine rounds of 60 by 84 GMP live ammunition, one SMG magazine among others.

She said, “The Commissioner of Police has ordered detailed investigation into the case, with a view to arresting the fleeing suspects. The outcome of the investigation will be made public”.

The police image maker also disclosed that  operatives of the command on Sunday arrested a-four man syndicate at Agip roundabout in Obio Akpor LGA, in a light green Toyota Corolla saloon car, with registration No. ZBL 12 PT, property of Mr. Ajuluchukwu Nebuolisa, reportedly snatched at gunpoint on 01/03/2022 in Anambra State.

The four suspects, which according to her are helping the Police in their investigations would be transferred to Anambra State where the offence was committed.

The PPRO however, noted that the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday has warned all criminal elements to turn a new leaf or face the full wrath of the law.
