Gunmen seize two passenger buses in Rivers

The whereabouts of two buses and its occupants hijacked by gunmen in Rivers State is still unknown.

The buses said to heading to Kalabari riverine axis of the state from Port-Harcourt were allegedly hijacked along Degema/Buguma/Abonnema Road off the East/West road.

The incident reportedly occured on Monday evening.

Rivers Police Command was yet to confirm the incident but locals said the development caused tension in the area.

As of the time of filing this report, nobody knows where they were taken to.

Port Harcourt Spectator recalls chairmen of the four councils making up the area such as Emohua, Degema, Asari-Toru And  Akuku-Toru had last year agreed to set up a joint security team to patrol the route to end this menace.
