As the 2023 general elections draw closer, General Overseer of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi has urged those with genuine call for service to aspire for leadership positions.

Kumuyi stated this while speaking with journalist at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Thursday.

The clergyman who is in Rivers State for a Global Easter Retreat of his church tagged, “Power for the Present Hour”, urged everyone irrespective of religion who is  genuinely called by God to respond to the call and  take up leadership positions.

“Everyone called of God, whether Christian or Muslim or whoever as they are called by God, they should respond to the call of God so that our country will move forward,” he said.

On the significance of the retreat, the clergyman said people should expect that their problems would have divine solutions at the end of it.

Also speaking, the Rivers State Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Dr. Minaibi Dagogo-Jack who was on hand alongside the South South Vice President of PFN, Apostle Zilly Aggrey to receive the revered clergyman, expressed delight at the coming into the state of Pastor Kumuyi, adding that the state would feel God’s presence.

“There is always power for every season and this season our father has come into Rivers State with a peculiar power so I think we are going to experience that power,” he said.

Dagogo-Jack also supported the call on more Christians to venture into politics and take up leadership positions.

He said there was so much unrighteousness in the system and only Christians can salvage the country.

“That’s very good because we have been praying till date so we have to be also involved. There is a high level of unrighteousness in governance and I think we want to take over. It’s only when the righteous rules that the people can rejoice,” he stated.

The retreat which begins on Thursday is expected to end on Easter Monday at the Deeper Life Bible Church Camp Ground, Rumuodara, along the East-West Road in Port Harcourt.
