Rivers: Police deny responsibility for death of Eleme youth during election

Rivers State police command has absolved itself of any complicity in the death of one Victor Amasi during the Onne youths election in Eleme local government area on Monday.

Rumors had made the rounds that its officers shut at the deceased.

Acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Grace  Iringe-Koko who dismissed the rumors  said while the command was yet to get report about any death, the police never shut anyone in Onne during the election.

DSP Iringe-Koko explained that  there were other security agencies present at the area before the unfortunate incident occurred, stating that it was wrong for anyone to  accused the police of the crime.

It was gathered that tempers flared at the election venue over the disqualification of some contestant which resulted to pandemonium.
